Begin your 5-day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga with a convenient pickup from your Marrakech accommodation. We will set out early in the morning, traveling through the majestic High Atlas Mountains. As we journey along the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), you will enjoy spectacular views of Berber villages, winding roads, and unforgettable mountain scenery. This scenic route is a highlight of many Morocco tours because of its panoramic landscapes and unique cultural experiences.
Continuing on, we arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village that has featured in numerous famous films. You will have free time to explore this historic gem and capture stunning photographs. After lunch in the nearby area—often referred to as the Hollywood of Morocco—we resume our adventure toward Ouarzazate and then through the enchanting Valley of the Roses, known for its lush rose fields and fragrant products.
Our day concludes in the picturesque Dades Valley, also called the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. Along the way, you will admire centuries-old kasbahs and the impressive rock formations of the Dades Gorge. Finally, settle into your comfortable hotel for dinner, relaxation, and a peaceful overnight stay—perfect preparation for the days ahead on your unforgettable Sahara Desert tour.
Day 2: Dades Valley ⇢ Tinghir ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Erfoud ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Merzouga
Begin the second day of your Morocco desert journey with an early breakfast at your accommodation in the Dades Valley. Head towards Tinghir, where you can admire a lush oasis and explore historic kasbahs, once shared by Berber and Jewish communities. Not far away lies the dramatic Todra Gorge, with towering 300-meter cliffs that will leave you in awe.
Continuing your adventure, travel through Erfoud and Rissani, towns known for their links to the ancient caravan trade route and bustling local markets. Upon arrival in Merzouga, meet your camel caravan and ride across the breathtaking Erg Chebbi dunes just as the Saharan sun begins to set. Feel free to try sandboarding before reaching your Berber desert camp, where you’ll be treated to a hearty traditional dinner. Round off the night with lively drum performances under a magnificent starry sky—a truly unforgettable Sahara experience.
